What We Collect
When you use the Lifescan app, you answer 42 questions about your life across 6 dimensions (Body, Money, Presence, People, Love, Purpose). Some questions ask about sleep habits, exercise frequency, and relationship patterns. Your answers are used to calculate your scores, archetype, and personalized insights.
How We Use Your Data
- Assessment scoring: Your answers are processed on your device to generate your scores, archetype, and blind spot analysis.
- Session storage: When you complete the assessment, your answers, calculated scores, archetype, and blind spot are sent to our database (hosted on Supabase) to create a session record. This happens automatically for all users.
- AI analysis: If you subscribe and consent to AI analysis, your quiz answers, age, gender, sleep data, and friendship data are sent through Lifescan's server to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your analysis. This data is sent only after you explicitly consent via an in-app prompt. Anthropic does not use data sent via their API to train AI models.
- Gamification data: Your progress (challenge status, completed tasks, badges, streak count, habit logs) is stored locally on your device. Progress events, such as a task completed or a habit checked, are also sent to our product analytics (below).
- Website analytics: We use Vercel Analytics on this website (no cookies, no personal data tracking). We do not track individual users.
- Product analytics: We use PostHog to understand how the app is used (for example, how far people get through the assessment, or whether they view their results) so we can improve it. These events carry a random app ID and no name, email or advertising identifier. They include the choice you pick on each multiple-choice question, your archetype and scores, and progress events such as tasks completed. PostHog does not track you across other apps, and no App Tracking Transparency permission is requested.
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
- We do not share your assessment results with third parties, except Anthropic for AI report generation with your explicit consent.
- We do not use tracking cookies.
- We do not collect your name or email unless you voluntarily provide them.
- We do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Data Storage
On your device: Assessment data, gamification progress, and app preferences are stored locally using standard iOS app storage (AsyncStorage). This data is protected by your device's passcode and iOS data protection.
On our servers: When you complete the assessment, a session record (your answers, scores, archetype, and blind spot) is stored on our database hosted by Supabase. If you make a purchase, your purchase status is also recorded. This data is stored with industry-standard encryption.
Data Retention
Local data persists until you delete it via the app. Server-side session data is retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. You can request deletion of server-side data at any time by emailing us.
Third-Party Services
- Supabase: Our database provider. Stores session records (quiz answers, scores, archetype). Supabase processes data under their privacy policy.
- Anthropic (Claude AI): If you subscribe and consent to AI analysis, your quiz answers and demographic data are sent through Lifescan's server to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your analysis. Anthropic processes this data under their privacy policy. Anthropic does not use data sent via their API to train AI models.
- Apple App Store: App distribution and in-app purchases are handled by Apple. Apple's privacy policy applies to app downloads and transactions.
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect device identifiers and purchase data per their privacy policy.
- Vercel: Our website is hosted on Vercel. Standard server logs (IP address, page viewed, timestamp) may be collected.
- PostHog: Product analytics. Receives in-app usage events under a random app ID (funnel and screen events, your multiple-choice answers, archetype and scores, and program progress) to help us improve the app. No name, email, advertising identifier or cross-app tracking. PostHog processes data under their privacy policy.
Your Rights
- Delete local data: Tap "Delete my data" in the app to erase all local data including answers, scores, progress, badges, habits, and cached reports. If you have never subscribed, it is in the row at the bottom of the home screen; once you have subscribed (even if the subscription has ended), it is in the Look tab > Settings. This is instant and irreversible, and it does not cancel a subscription (that is managed in your Apple ID settings).
- Delete server data: To request deletion of your server-side session data, email care@lifescan.me. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
- Withdraw AI consent: You can decline AI analysis during the consent prompt, and turn it off any time in the Look tab > Settings > AI analysis. If you previously consented, deleting your data removes any locally cached AI reports.
Children
Lifescan is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page.
